Tiny chaotic ball of everything. Should probably get back to doing more creative stuff at some point. I have cats both real (Bowie) and fictional (Noβa Katri on Diabolos, FFXIV) | Fuck AI | Bi, She/her | I π @lachm.bsky.social
"We already live in a world where you walk outside and there are billboards and signs that are obvious AI slop. Thatβs become part of our visual reality. To me, generative AI feels less like innovation than a symptom of a broader cultural and economic rot."
I like this kid.
Oh and obviously fuck that admittedly cool-looking witch game. I was really looking forward to playing it. Shame.

This dropping the week after you fly a bunch of fans to LA, give them free consoles, and cancel a version of a game on a platform double your size is⦠unfortunate timing.
AI in game dev is for shit like enemy paths, behaviours in NPCs, shit like it used to be. It should not be generative AI replacing the early sparks on the road to fulfilling a creative vision - tempting bosses to cut out human elements in such a human industry that already treats employees poorly.
I'm just fucking sick of checking the listings for each game announced for AI disclosures at what should be celebrations for gaming and creativity. It stifles my excitement for my favourite hobby since childhood.
Did we learn nothing from the Marathon art theft debacle? Even if it's by accident, even if it's removed, early assets shape the game you're making irrevocably. God knows what would've happened to Expedition 33 if we found out about the AI usage before it won all those awards.
AI can be a tool if developed ethically. Generative AI as it stands currently is a cesspool of disregard, theft and indifference to the human action of creation, and all games made with it are tarred with that same uncaring brush. May all who use it go to hell.
What unnatural conglomerate of artists the world over formed the environmental concept art and temporary textures that not only made it to the final game - thereby being deemed "good enough" - but almost certainly tainted the real, living concept artists' replacement work?
We'll never fucking know.
For decades people have been finding cut content and early assets when digging into game data - so much so that there's even games based on the assumption that you'll dig.
Game devs: Assets are like the internet - whatever you use will be found. Your AI usage will be found, and ridiculed. Don't.
