I am pretty sure that the National Academies of Science understands this. Surely it does! Obeying in advance has not stopped organizations being targeted by MAHA/MAGA extremists

There's no better distillation of Project 2025 than this: an illegal action, taken without any public oversight, for inherently corrupt purposes, now held to be irreversible for no other reason than because they added poison pills to make it unacceptably damaging.
The MAHA/MAGA folks running the show have taken repeated steps to harm/destroy the environment
-They are accelerating climate change
-They shuttered NOAA’s climate science portal
-They rolled back regulations on PFAS (“forever chemicals”)
-They allowed coal plants to spew neurotoxic methylmercury
