This vignette has it all. It's February 1595/6 and Richard Bancroft (yes that Richard Bancroft) is at Fishmongers' Hall about a 'mishapp' over a lease of a property in Pudding Lane. It transpired that 'a mowse hath eaten of the Seale of the Lease' and could he please have another one. 1/2
This delightful map of Dartmoor (showing Ashburton to Buckland-in-the-Moor, featuring Ausewell Rocks) was part of an Exchequer case in 1605, for settling the bounds of Ashburton manor: discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C3... [MPB 1/7]
