My 2 year old looked at a video of his newborn cousin today and exclaimed "so cute!!!" And I know this is silly but it did not occur to me until then that someone who is themselves So Cute could appreciate *something else* being cute
The Great Replacement conspiracy theory, once relegated to mass shooter manifestos, has become increasingly central to global right-wing politics. My latest ep for the QAA Podcast premium feed explores how a murderous idea mutated to go mainstream. Featuring contributions from @feolski.bsky.social

I think Eco's work on semiotics clarifies some of what's been happening in the UK, after listening to @annieknk.bsky.social's piece in QAA: the act of streamers gesturing towards a multicultural society and 'seeing'/'saying' that it's a society in free fall podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/q...
At least in the part of Yorkshire I'm from, when people say "going to t' shops" the T is silent. But I've noticed southern people, when mimicking a northerner will actually pronounce it with a hard T. Is this a mistake on their part or just a regional thing?

Worth pointing to this as some background to what’s happening in the UK, @annieknk.bsky.social’s reporting from back in January feels very relevant to what we’re seeing on the streets right now: podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/q...

This was excellent. Just insane to watch my interest in understanding niche conspiracy theories morph into understanding United States governing policy.
