A good statement would have included part about systemic issues that led to fewer women candidates with the desired skill set in the Artemis class and what they are doing to remedy those systemic issues.
The eligible Artemis team is 50% women. The eligible general astronaut corps is 42% women.
This statement is just “some of my best friends are women” expanded. Explain why the eligible astronauts don’t have the test pilot skills for this mission! Hmmmmm maybe it has to do with historical codified sexism in the institutions where they would obtain such skills…
