Y cywion hynaf - a hefyd y rhai mwyaf - fydd y rhai trechaf yn ystod amser bwydo. Mae'n gallu ymddangos yn giaidd i ni wrth wylio'r cywion lleiaf yn cael eu pigo gan y siblingiaid mwy, ond mae pethau fel arfer yn setlo i lawr erbyn i'r cywion gyrraedd pedair wythnos oed.
It can seem brutal for us to watch the smallest chicks being pecked by the larger siblings, but things usually settle down by the time the chicks are four weeks old. Unfortunately there has been a high level of intruder activity around the Glaslyn Valley over the past couple of days.
Yn anffodus, bu lefel uchel o weithgarwch tresmaswyr o amgylch Dyffryn Glaslyn dros y dyddiau diwethaf 'ma ac o'r herwydd mae KC6/Teifi wedi bod yn brysur yn delio â nhw sydd wedi tarfu ar ei deithiau pysgota.
Fel arfer mae ymgiprys siblingiaid yn digwydd pan fo'r cywion Gweilch y Pysgod rhwng dwy a thair wythnos oed ac mae bron yn ddieithriad yn gysylltiedig ag argaeledd bwyd. Pan fydd digonedd o bysgod prin y ceir ffraeo rhwng yr ifanc.
Sibling rivalry generally occurs when osprey chicks are 2 to 3 weeks old and is usually related to food availability. When there is a plentiful supply of fish, there are rarely squabbles between the young. The oldest chicks, being the largest, will always be the dominant ones during feeding.
This has meant that KC6/Teifi has been busy dealing with intruders which has delayed fishing trips. Hopefully KC6/Teifi will soon resume his usual high level of fish delivery service and all three of the Glaslyn chicks will have ping-pong ball sized crops once again!
Gall ceiliogod fod yn amharod i adael eu tiriogaeth i bysgota pan fyddant yn gwybod bod ceiliog arall yn bygwth. Gobeithio y bydd KC6/Teifi yn ailafael yn ei wasanaeth safon uchel o ddanfon pysgod i'r nyth cyn bo hir ac y bydd gan bob un o thri chyw Glaslyn grombil maint pêl ping-pong unwaith eto!

Ducklings to the left of me, ducklings to right, here I am stuck in the middle and trying to stop them wanting to kill each other.
One of the biggest causes of duckling mortality in this area is... other Mallard families. On small streams/ponds, there's limited food, and little chance of avoiding each other, and so females and even ducklings try to kill other broods to eliminate the competition. They're very vicious in attack.
