Just look at those beautiful mountains! This is a temperate rain forest. Did you know we have glow worms?! And ghost fireflies?!! And the preserve here has been reintroducing the river otters that were nearly hunted to extinction.
I subbed to this but my work was not selected.
I (finally) just read the whole thing and I’m ok with that because this is a beautiful anthology full of superb haiku!

…some seeds for me to try. And I sent home some golden oregano with her. And we’ve been texting.
I already know everyone on MY street. But her house driveway goes to the street ours t’s into. And so I didn’t know her before this.
She says her kids seem to be doing fine so far.
What happened Thursday is awful.
One bright spot in all of this is connecting with the neighbors whose property the body was found on though. I dropped off flowers (liberally arranged with lavender for hopefully calming vibes). And she showed me her whole garden.

Even if no one else ends up liking this next project, I still love it because I cannot read it without chuckling to myself.

Hiked Grandfather Mountain on Wednesday. Finished up my verse novel revisions Thursday. Feeling really good about all that was accomplished during this retreat.
