Taught my partner a little coding a while back and they kept getting frustrated that you had to just know the names of so many functions to do anything, and I had to be like "sorry, magic is all about knowing the true names of things".

and you risk being very wrong, especially if you are not even evaluating the technical merits. Arguably the left got lucky doing this with crypto but just applying the same playbook against ai could be pretty bad imo.
I think its unwise to stake a political position against a particular technology. In the end the success of a technology comes down to how useful it is, not the ascribed political valence. So what you are actually doing is betting your own cachet against the technical merit of something,
