Great 4* review of OUR LAND in the @financialtimes.com Available to view in most local cinemas.
"wild swimming ... causes issues with private ownership" is genuinely a sentence written by the national park authority for Kinder Scout, the locus classicus of public access protest in England

'Our Land features some of the most beautiful English vistas imaginable. Enjoy them on screen if you can, because you’re unlikely to visit them in person any time soon: vast swaths of the English countryside are fenced off by their owners, whereas in Scotland, freedom to roam is a public right.'
It would be nice if, on a hot sunny day, the @peakdistrict.bsky.social, spent its time advising how swimming can be done safely without impacting wildlife, rather than acting like the most normal thing in the world is a dangerous act of criminality. #RightToSwim

As an immigrant, one of the most confusing things about the UK is how swimming outdoors is treated as an extreme, taboo, inherently dangerous act. I understand the water temperature is generally lower in the summer than where I come from, but that alone doesn’t explain it.
The film, featuring Right to Roam activists and landowners alike, is a study of capital, class and exclusion

Our Land — a stunning documentary about the ever more inaccessible English countryside

My lovely friend Mary Colwell has fought for a Natural History GCSE, supported by many, including Caroline. For it to be proper natural history, we need lots of naturalists to give their opinions on the proposed framework. Please consider visiting the public consultation www.gov.uk/government/c...

It’s been quite the week for alternative rural voices. #RadicalRural gathering @themerl.bsky.social, the wonderful @caughtbytheriver.bsky.social Festival at Elmley, Our Land film & Q&A @righttoroam.bsky.social & finally seeing threeacresandacow.co.uk which is just revolutionary & BRILLIANT!
Next week, Sunday 24th May, I'll be doing a rare Leeds show at The Attic. There will also be a @righttoroam.bsky.social West Yorkshire stall and a short talk from them. Would really love to pack this one out: www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-attic-...
☝️ Shot. 👇 Chaser. Compliments to @righttoroam.bsky.social and all for #OurLand, fantastic watch, particularly after a privileged day connecting with nature (though not the privilege of certain characters in the film, natch).
