A Post Office was established in the Moapa Valley as Nepac, NV on Jun 16, 1938. It was renamed on Oct 15, 1939 to Mead Lake, NV into 1942. It was the terminus of a Union Pacific Branch line at a station called Mead Lake. Attached includes an envelope cancelled on Oct 14, 1939.
An early reference to the Washoe Valley can be found in the Jun 15, 1858 Sacramento Union. They spelled it Wasau, but they spoke favorably of its agricultural potential, of fish in Washoe Lake, a sawmill, and of Mormons who left, but were sure to return. tinyurl.com/4fdbv8nv
