Whose brilliant idea was it to go camping both weekends before exams? How am I supposed to get these exams written?
This poem isn't mine, so I won't promote myself. Instead, I'll remind you to go outside and watch a sunrise or a sunset. Better yet, please climb to the top of a mountain, or sit on a beach, or hike through the woods to watch a sunset or a sunrise.
We live in a beautiful world.
Maybe I should only go on Friday night, and I take my little one back so I can write the exams on Sunday? I don't think he'll be able to handle both days anyway. Mama can take the big guy.
Well, that went better than I expected. A week ago it was "You dropped the ball" and "Why aren't you working harder?"
Today was "We haven't supported you enough" and "There was nothing you could have done."
I'm glad I delayed the meeting a bit. It would have been less productive last week.
Poem sent around at work for Poetry Wednesday (a tradition of the English dept). I thought people here would appreciate.
It's so weird that Monday is only 3 days away.
I mean, I'm going camping this weekend with my heathen Kindred. I'm gonna be swimming, canoeing, playing cards, and sitting around a fire eating s'mores. There will be ritual and dancing and feasting.
How is that only 2 days?
How I celebrated Midsummer:
I built a labyrinth in the sand.
I capsized a canoe.
I won 2 games of Hnefatafl.
I told a short story inspired by stanza 16 of the Havamal during Sumbel.
I saw way more stars than I can from home (but no planets because of where they are in the sky right now).
I've only read 19 of these books. How many have you read?

One of my students just said to me, with apology in his voice, "I'm not actually trying to learn this [math] for your exam next week. I want to learn it for [this application in my real life]"
