PLANET OF THE APES (1974): the biggest movie sci-fi franchise of the 70s (pre-Star Wars) launched an animated series, books, annuals, toys and games, and this TV series. Its oppressive, eerie titles, Lalo Schifrin's music, and the rifle-toting apes really got to me as a kid.
