Anna Turley is touring news studios calling the Common Travel Area into question on the basis that the open border is being exploited. This just throws huge uncertainty into febrile politics. Thousands rely on the CTA daily. The reason asylum seekers can't be returned to a safe EU country? Brexit.
It's just remarkable that if you're white, male, and conservative you are allowed to call for political violence that would get anyone who doesn't tick all those boxes absolutely pilloried.

Old Belfast Proverb.
The UK is a state conditioned to treat all political actors on the right of politics as basically good chaps, and left activism as dangerous subversion (the story of Ewing & Gearty's work). It isn't (just) a Starmer personality issue, its a systemic defect that is now being mercilessly exploited:
In the course of today, His Majesty’s Government will do both of the following things:
- moan loudly about X and blame it for the grotesque scenes in Belfast;
- create huge amounts of content for X to monetise
To govern is to choose.
