The Portland Clean Energy Fund has raised a billion dollars for climate change action via a retail tax on large corporations in the city. Other cities are starting to shape similar funds.
Portland officials approved a policy Wednesday that supporters say could open the door to local police stopping federal agents to ask for their identification, in a move aimed at stopping potential imposters.
The City Council passed the Right to Know Who's Policing You! Portland will now have policies for law enforcement masking, identification, verification and documentation that uphold transparency and build public trust.
