Ancalagon wished to find his Guardian and the Ahamkara heard. He helps Arra disguise themself, ergo 'finding his Guardian'. He provides Arra no light as the Ahamkara is not a true Guardian, but helps the Ahamkara with its disguise while searching for his true Guardian to be freed.
Hello new followers! I'm El/Alison and I'm a self-taught fan artist with a love for the fantasy and eldritch horrors of Destiny's universe.
Below is my Ahamkara character Arrachassath and the Guardian-less ghost Ancalagon. The two are bound to each other through wish-magic.

Arra's concept has lived rent-free in my mind since the vague Ahamkara lore in D1 and the rumor that the Batadactyls on Venus were surviving Ahamkara. And since Ahamkara survive only through others' conscious or unconscious thoughts, he's been feeding off mine for a while.
