2023 was the eighth and final time I was approved to attend San Diego Comic-Con with a media badge for SmashPad.
We've been denied each of the last three years despite seeing 300%+ growth on the site since then. Heck, right before COVID, I'd be lucky to see three stories on the site.

I remember leaving the company Holiday Party in 2023 kicking myself for not leaving the house earlier because of traffic.
I told my girlfriend "It'll be funner next year."
Got laid off two months later.

The streetball, the culture, the vibes, they're great! But if I can't play with my brother on the couch... can't say you're the next NBA Street.
Everything I do is with the thought that I won't be brought back to do it again.
Opportunities are given to you for a reason, and it's always best to treat them with grace and respect, no matter what you're going through.
I think the world would be a better place if more folks had that mindset.
