ppantheon definitely feels like something that got greenlit because of invincible's success (you can feel that in the art choices the show has made, too) but it's so much weirder and richer than a simple fast follow. sad when we can't have as many animated shows for adults as we do comics for adults
closer to the end of season one and i'm furious at how good this is. i'm reminded of when fringe hit its stride
also wow usually the animation in a show like this tends to take a backseat to pretty compositing and solid drawing but this has some really solid character animation. a lot of surprisingly good cuts with very solid acting choices
the season one finale just did a full digimon our war game homage on an amc show. are you KIDDING me
though its resolution is weirdly low and its audio (specifically its voice audio) is really odd and low quality too, something i don't blame its team for because the show is executed well in most ways so...what's the deal, AMC. are there better masters somewhere
watching Pantheon is making me mad again that there aren't like 50 shows like this. but also the fact that i'm only watching it now is why there aren't 50 shows like this. but also there's a reason i'm only watching it now
thankful we're finally in a world where dramatic 2D adult western animated series are a thing, but we should be able to have more than the categories of "it's by scavenger's reign alumni," "adventure time spinoff," and "what is or looks like a superhero show." (even if i love some of these things)
