📢 Abstract submission for the London Mathematical Biology Conference 2026 is now open! Join us in London on 3-4 September 2026 for two days of exciting research in theoretical biology. 📝 Abstract deadline: 5 July 2026 Details: londonmathbio.github.io
Our new review is out! Small gene regulatory networks keep on revealing principles of cell-fate decisions. Circuit behaviour is far richer than topology-centric views, highlighting the need to consider specific molecular implementations. @mathsmaret.bsky.social www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
We wrote this introductory review on how concepts from dynamical systems can help us understand developmental biology, hope it’s useful to somebody! It was a lot of fun to put together, and great to collaborate with brilliant colleagues across theory and experiments
Another day, another funky gene regulatory network behaviour! In our latest paper, we show how the mushroom bifurcation can encode an ultra-long biochemical timer. Even more interestingly, extrinsic noise can be used to improve timing precision! 🤯 @mathsmaret.bsky.social @josepsardanyes.bsky.social
Our #Cancer #Evolution summer school runs again 30 June-3 July at the beautiful Genome Campus in Hinxton, UK sponsored by @wellcometrust.bsky.social Ideal for starters in the field; this year's focus is on using genomic data for cancer evo research. Brilliant & inspiring faculty! bit.ly/40nLdDD
Hello World! Happy to finally get around to joining Bluesky!
My first paper in systems biology is in PRE! We investigate how local nearby bifurcations lead to synergies in critical slowing down, specifically the case of mushroom bifurcations in gene regulatory networks! journals.aps.org/pre/abstract... @perez-carrasco.bsky.social @josepsardanyes.bsky.social

The behavior of nonlinear systems near critical transitions has significant implications for stability, transients, and resilience in complex systems. Transient times, $\ensuremath{\tau}$, become extr...
