On Memorial Day, we pay tribute to the brave men and women in uniform who gave their lives for this country that we love. It is a debt we can never fully repay, but we must never stop trying.
"I suspect [many 60-Min js] want to leave but don’t have the lifetime earnings of Pelley, but I no longer will take their reporting too seriously. And you shouldn’t, either. Weiss and the Ellisons want to use the lofty brand to legitimize their Trump-friendly, anti-left vision.
We can’t let them."
Thank you to @velshi.com and to those who also make the choices to bear witness and engage.

Remember that arts organizations, humanities councils, and museums also rely heavily on federal funding!
In fact, they are extremely vulnerable due to the need to align with the administration's priorities and the risk of denial due to any personal affiliations that the administration dislikes.
A great reminder to celebrate (and support) the important work of local news!
The pope stood with a major AI leader to apologize and raise concerns about AI as causing a new form of dehumanization that requires social responsibility, intervention and regulation. He also made a point of quoting Tolkien, which some AI leaders have co-opted in pseudo-religious ways.

The Web site targets MAHA w the claim that the U.S. is "under babied."
But moms.gov doesn't mention racial disparities in health access or nutrition. No focus on the maternal health crisis among Black women.
TMC: It's more reframing of American social policy as white entitlement.

"...everyone at CBS is now working under a leadership that values anti-left, reactionary ideology over accuracy, democracy, and fairness. Watch accordingly. (Or better yet, watch something else.)"

Bearing witness has never mattered more and you don’t have to be a journalist to do it. Contrary to what the people counting on your indifference want you to believe, citizenship is a choice to show up and engage with your neighbors, your community, your country. We will not look away. #Velshi

Bearing witness has never mattered more than it does right now. And you don't have to be a journalist to bear witness. Darnella Frazier, Renee Good, Alex Pretti, Eugene Goodman, and Febb Burn. History is filled with people who bore witness and held power to count. We will not look away. Because contrary to what the people counting on your indifference want you to believe, citizenship in a democracy is not something you are handed. It is something you do — a choice to show up and engage with your neighbors, your community, your country. And in this moment, your country needs you. The Republic is not lost. It is deeply endangered. And endangered things can be saved — but not by waiting. You have 148 days. One hundred and forty-eight days between this morning and November 3rd — Election Day — to organize, to register voters, to have the conversations that need having, to show up for democracy. See you on The 11th Hour.Â
Our community tells us daily they need our journalism. The newsroom needs your continued support. We remain ardent in our ethics and approach to hyper-local news, Managing Editor Audra Anderson writes.

Weiss and the Ellisons have an utterly transparent ideological agenda. Thank you, Scott Pelley, for calling them out.
