2nd tip:
Ask for the item to be ordered at the pharmacy or a medical supply store.
Ask for an itemized bill if it's not fully covered. Insurances have a negotiated amount they pay with every business that accepts them.
You can use that as leverage. Like @xjordanary.bsky.social said. Don't over pay

If you never go to a hospital and they are trying to give you a brace or medical equipment at the time of service and it’s an item that you can by at Walmart or CVS….ALWAYS choose the store option
