Need a little Horace’s Duskywing butterfly (Erynnis horatius) for your evening? #bugsky 🦋
The author described squirrels (in the eastern US) as having white tails. Have you never seen a squirrel, sir?!?
I was just looking for something chill to watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon; I was not expecting Surviving Earth to go full freaking Lion King trauma less than 10 minutes into episode 1.
I write down a good thing from my day every day before bed, and it feels like at least 50% of them are about the cool animals I saw that day.
Today in “This is why they didn’t hire me to teach art classes.”
Animal Form & Function, Week 1: A Sartorial Syllabus.
(I don't know if my students have caught on to the #MsFrizzle themed outfits yet this semester. No one's said anything, at any rate.)
Okay, I think I’m in love with this gorgeous new friend I met last night. This is an Eastern Spotted-winged Antlion (Dendroleon obsoletus), a member of the group whose larvae dig sand funnel pit traps (not this species, though.) It’s only the 16th record of this species from Florida on iNat! #bugsky
It's been a good week for huge katydids! The one that's been hanging around my porch for the past week is a Round-headed Katydid (genus Amblycorypha), and the one on campus yesterday is the aptly-named Giant Katydid (Stilpnochlora couloniana). #BugSky
I met this little fellow on my adventures this evening. I'm in love! 🪶🥰
Cory has always enthusiastically endorsed new tech when helpful. His shift to unpacking why there is so much dysfunction now and analyzing why this is... really useful effort toward the idea of a hopeful,community-minded future.
