Again, this Trump IRS thing is not a “settlement” or a “deal” or something with any legal basis at all. It’s pure corruption; colluding with his Acting AG to loot the Treasury; pay off his mob; and preemptively immunize himself and his heirs against investigation for fraud.

This is right. The government didn’t “settle” this case. Trump brought a frivolous case and voluntarily withdrew it, and then the Justice Department said they’d agreed to set up this insane slush fund for him. It has no legal connection to the case, and there’s no legal authorization for it at all.

Unusual order in the Trump v. IRS case by Judge Williams. While dismissing the case (she has no choice), she explicitly notes:
1. The is still a question whether controversy existed.
2. There is no settlement of record.
3. The lawyers for the government still have ethical obligations in the case.
ORDER CLOSING CASE. See attached document for full details. Signed by Judge Kathleen M. Williams on 5/18/2026. (ymd) (Entered: 05/18/2026)
