Excited to release a new preprint with @chikaetatsumi.bsky.social, Zoey Werbin, & Jenny Bhatnagar! We used NEON data to identify microbial groups associated with soil nitrogen transformation rates across the U.S. and the environmental contexts where these relationships exist: doi.org/10.64898/202...
I’m thrilled to be a recipient of the American Dissertation fellowship from the American Association of University Women this upcoming year! Thank you AAUW for the opportunity to focus on writing my dissertation into reality! 🍄🦠🌲
New year, new preprint! I’m excited to share this work with Nahuel Policelli, Abigail Li, Lindsey Adams, and Jenny M. Bhatnagar, "Microbial functional guilds and genes are key to explaining soil nutrient cycling alongside soil and plant variables": doi.org/10.1101/2024...
We determined which microbial characteristics calculated from amplicon sequencing data are most useful to explain soil N and P cycling in northeastern USA forests, and their importance relative to plant and soil factors. Thanks to all the amazing people involved on this project!
Our unit at OIST is hiring two postdocs, one lab manager/technician, and one field technician! If you're passionate about exploring microbial and ecosystem ecology at the international institute on Japan's beautiful island, please apply by April 20! 🍄🦠🌳🌞

So excited to share our new collaborative paper on the ecosystem impacts of pine-fungal co-invasions into eucalypt forests published in @newphyt.bsky.social! Many impacts are interconnected and dependent on pine size 🌲🍄 nph.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/share/RZJ6B9...
The first chapter of my dissertation is finally published in @esajournals.bsky.social! We determined which microbial characteristics best explain soil nutrient cycling and their importance compared to plant and soil factors 🍄🌱 doi.org/10.1002/ecs2... @nahpo.bsky.social @k8eatherton.bsky.social
🌳 Big news! My paper “Disruption of the oak tree microbiome with urbanization” is now out in Nature Cities! 🏙️🌿
Cities are full of life we don’t see, including microbes that live in and on trees.
