So everyone in Boston knows about this, but for those unfamiliar, the Boston host of the World Cup, Bob Kraft, is trying to build a separate stadium for the soccer team he owns, the Revolution, in a suburb of the city, Everett.

fascinated by how every host goes out their way to build shiny infrastructure just for the Cup so they can pretend to the world that they have it so great all the time meanwhile the US is like can we make it look like 1930 before the games start?

Usually when World Cup’s are held in a brutal dictatorship, the quid pro quo for both sides is obvious. With this clusterf***, it's really not clear what the US or FIFA is getting out of it, and the potential lasting damage to both is kinda obvious
