A recent study addresses the long-standing energy balance closure problem within ecosystem flux measurements 🌳
By using datasets from ICOS and NEON, the study shows that a substantial part of this energy imbalance is caused by incomplete energy accounting.

ICOS Ocean measurements are coordinated by the ICOS Ocean Thematic Centre (OTC), which also oversees observation technologies.
Last year, ICOS OTC published the results of the largest intercomparison study of its kind, comparing 27 instruments used for surface ocean pCO₂ measurements.

The Strategy aims to provide a framework that addresses challenges associated with the acquisition and use of in situ measurements and observations.
Through the Horizon Europe project #NUBICOS, ICOS is providing enhanced data products for #calval purposes.
