Yesterday, Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District teacher and President of Cleveland Heights Teachers Union 795, Karen Rego represented Ohio teachers at a press conference outside the U.S. Capitol for the Keep Public Dollars in Public Schools Act of 2026.

They made progress on the issues that motivated them to form their union: paid time off benefits for part-timers, paid parental leave, guaranteed raises, protections against unfair discipline & more!

Big congratulations to the educators at KIPP Columbus and Menlo Park Academy in Ohio for ratifying their first union contracts! First contracts aren't easy—both have been negotiating for years—so this is a big step for workers to win the rights and benefits they deserve.

Congratulations to these educators on winning their first contracts! Not that this is news to anyone, but labor law in this country is beyond broken - these workers won their union elections more than 3 and 4 years ago, respectively.
