LFJL’s complaint to the Dutch international crimes unit shows that they may amount to crimes against humanity.
Today, alleged Eritrean trafficker ‘Kidane’ is appearing before a Dutch court for crimes he is suspected of committing against migrants in Libya. While the case is important, it overlooks the systematicity, scale, and context of his actions.
Access to justice starts with access to information.
For victims and survivors in Libya, engaging with the ICC is not always easy. Distance, complex procedures, and limited access to clear information can make it difficult to understand how the Court works and what rights victims have before it.
