🧵/5 However, there are signs of hope.

🧵/4 Agriculture makes up largest human source of methane. 13 jurisdictions - including EU & France, making up 20% of emissions - did not have any agricultural #methane policies. The focus on #energy neglects other high impact pathways, such as #food #diet changes.
🧵/3 On methane policies related to #fossil fuels, most policies targeted oil and gas. In the current context of high energy prices, cutting methane emissions can help improve energy #security & reduce #waste. Think tank @ember-energy.org also identified #coal methane as a gap
🧵/2 We identified methane policies across 32 countries.
Four countries – #India, #Indonesia, Thailand and Tanzania – had no identifiable methane policies
Comparison of methane policies in #G7 countries shows key gaps (see below)

Check out this recent article in @theconversation.com by @hwright.bsky.social of the Oxford Climate Policy Monitor on methane emissions. As she explains, it's vital we get them under control if we want to address climate change.
Climate crisis and cost of living crisis are inextricably linked. Trying to tackle one while ignoring the other is doomed to fail.
