Many wild populations are fragmenting and declining, leading to inbreeding. We are studying how animals avoid inbreeding and the consequences of inbreeding an in a >20 year study of >20,000 wild mice with whole genomes. We are recruiting a postdoc at Columbia and two PhD students in U Zurich.

Some exciting days, meeting the princess of Belgium and then spending two excellent days at the NN2026 in Bonn taking about naturalistic neuroscience. Thank you for the invitation @sabinekrabbe.bsky.social !

The workshop was a great success also due to the highly motivated attendees: Yraima Cordeiro, Marcelo Farina, Claudia Figueiredo, Rogerio Pannizzutti, Andréa Cristina Paula Lima, Priscilla Kolibea Mante and Nargiza Staeva. Due to the current conflicts, 3 attendees could unfortunately not travel!
It was a great opportunity to meet new colleagues from the global South but also to learn more about what our colleagues at SISSA do. And of course we also had time for discussions in more relaxed environments!
I was very happy to participate in the TWAS-TYAN Neuroscience Workshop at SISSA! TWAS supports and promotes science in developing countries and invited young professors from Brazil, Chile, Ghana and Kyrgyzstan to SISSA. twas.org/article/tyan.... Photos: G.Ortolani (www.flickr.com/photos/twas/...)
The event got even featured on Italian TV! www.rainews.it/tgr/fvg/arti...
