A few people campaigning / focus grouping in Makerfield have told me that even Reform supporters have brought up that Farage going against the wishes of Nowak's family made them uneasy. So these statements are both brave and important.

Literally every violent crime committed by a non-white immigrant against a white person will now be used by the far right to incite pogroms and introduce fascistic ‘talking points’ to everyday debate. Any mainstream politician who gives even an inch by accepting their framing has failed us.

The UK is a state conditioned to treat all political actors on the right of politics as basically good chaps, and left activism as dangerous subversion (the story of Ewing & Gearty's work). It isn't (just) a Starmer personality issue, its a systemic defect that is now being mercilessly exploited:
The family of the Belfast stabbing victim have released a statement saying - like the family of Henry Nowak last week - that the attack should not be used to "divide people or fuel hostility" They condemned disorder and praised the "valuable contribution" by migrants inews.co.uk/news/politic...

Keir Starmer's spokesman tells me there has been "no change" to the Government's policy on using X, despite Elon Musk helping to incite the hateful scenes we saw in Belfast last night. Also no new plans to take action against X for its role in the violence
