Yeah they really shouldn’t be used as “measures”. Our data should be used to discover how research has had an outcome/impact beyond academia.
This is more narrative-driven than sheer numbers. And a high attention score isn’t a “good score”. Just ask the author of many a retracted paper!
By the way, as I said in the post, I do wonder why we as a community accept citations and altmetrics as reliable measures of impact when neither is backed by a standard!
