Tear gas is a threat to public health, public safety, and free speech.
Please note that after this video was filmed, we confirmed that @councilortkl.bsky.social will be cosponsoring, so this will be Kanal-Koyama Lane 7!
I am grateful to @hartmannreport.com, who I first listened to in 2004 (on Portland's AM 620 KPOJ), and whose Brunch with Bernie was my first exposure to one of my political inspirations, for including Portland's Right To Know Who's Policing You ordinance (which I sponsored) in his work.
I'm sharing my budget proposals for next week's City Council budget finalization.
Kanal 8 uses $ freed up by Council when we passed amendment Dunphy 4 to restore 1 telecommunicator at 911.
911 call takers are our -first- first responders, & staffing up at 911 lowers response times for everyone.
The City Council's 2nd & final round of budget negotiations is next week. The new budget takes effect July 1. I'm filing a few amendments, & I'm going to walk through them, starting with Kanal 7, Restoring the City's International Relations Program.
(Numbers start at 7 because I filed 6 in May.)
WAYMO UPDATE:
On July 28, at the Council's Public Works Committee, we will be hearing from PBOT on the engagement received and potential next steps including potential recommendations not only for administrative rules but City Code.
You've probably seen the Governor & Mayor pushing a plan to renovate the Moda Center. Council hasn't weighed in on this yet, & we're going to start discussing in July.
In advance of this, we're doing community engagement! Please join one of this weekend's park popups & fill out the survey!
1/2
There are 8 popups this weekend, two in each district. In D2, they're both Saturday 6/13:
McCoy Park from 1-2:30 PM (www.portland.gov/council/even...)
Irving Park from 3:30-5 PM (www.portland.gov/council/even...)

Let’s ban chemical munitions in Portland to protect children, their parents, their grandparents, and our rivers. @councilorkanal.bsky.social
been wondering if the serial communication restriction is making council polarization worse. ie you can’t talk to your colleagues ahead of a vote so you fall back on in-group signaling as a way to make a lot of decisions www.wweek.com/news/city/20...
What role should the City of Portland play in a proposed renovation of the Moda Center? Meet up with city councilors face-to-face at a local park to share your thoughts, take a survey, and enjoy a pop...
