David Bowie married Iman at St James' Episcopal Church in Florence, Italy, #OnThisDay in 1992. The supermodel bride wore a white, halterneck Hervé Léger bandage gown with a detachable train for the religious ceremony. #fashionhistory
Today would have marked thirty-two years of marriage. I shall spend the day quietly, in reflection and in the company of family - grateful for love, memory, and the blessing of having shared so many beautiful years together. 🌷
After spending 10 hours squashed inside a car yesterday, I shall spend much of today unravelling myself.
Raffi will go off for a little holiday with friends tonight while, at some unearthly hour tomorrow morning, I set off to retrieve my son and the mountainous accumulation of books, laundry and mysterious cables that constitute university life.
I’m looking at the weather this morning trying to read its face - wet, cold, a chance of sunshine? I’m quite perplexed as to what to don.
Half term already feels like a brief misunderstanding with the sun. Today it’s back to grey skies, sensible shoes, and wondering why I ever trusted British summertime.😌
We’re halfway through the week - hang in there! ❤️
Just a few final moments in the armchair with a cup of coffee, the morning light, and Raffi softly snoring nearby before I confront whatever the world of work has for me this week.
Woke this morning after a splendid night’s sleep entirely convinced I was still on holiday. It took a full five minutes, one cup of tea, and the sight of a tie draped over a chair before the dreadful truth emerged: it is, in fact, a school day.😳

This dress is just crying out for a dance floor upon which to twirl. The pleats, fluted edges and tiers of fabric are bluebell like, a disco belle blooming on a summer’s evening. John Bates for Jean Varon, 1973 #FashionMuseumBath #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡
