Courage isn't always loud.
This Refugee Week, we're sharing a poem by Ilsa, one of our graduate Young Leaders.
After spending years navigating the asylum system, Ilsa now campaigns for safe routes and encourages other young people with lived experience to use their voices.
That is how division takes hold. That is how innocent people become targets. And, quite literally this week, that is how communities are set on fire.
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home and community. There is no place for racism or anti-refugee hate.
Today, we remember those who lost their lives. We stand with the survivors and families still seeking answers.
And we remember why tragedies like Pylos continue to happen. When safe routes are unavailable, people are left with impossible choices.
SAFE ROUTES, SAVE LIVES.
3 years ago today, one of the deadliest tragedies in the Mediterranean unfolded off the coast of Greece.
More than 600 people lost their lives in the Pylos shipwreck while trying to reach safety in Europe.
They were people with families, hopes and futures.
