During my PhD at @crick.ac.uk and @imperialcollegeldn.bsky.social, I explored the molecular interaction between host and pathogen. My question: How have pathogenic bacteria evolved to manipulate their host environment during infection? 🦠https://biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2025.03.01.640964v1 1/11
We had a fantastic time today showcasing our amazing history and cutting-edge research at #OxfordOpenDoors! Visitors learnt about 100 years of medical research, the development of penicillin and our ongoing work on microbiology and AMR. Thanks to all the volunteers!
How can a Salmonella effector change the specificity of a host kinase? SteE mediates kinase reprogramming via mimicry of conserved eukaryotic-like motifs- doi.org/10.1038/s443... Great collaboration with @katrinrittinger.bsky.social + big thanks to all authors & congrats to lead PDRA Ioanna Panagi!

It’s been a pleasure to attend and present my research at #ETOX2025! It’s amazing to see all the exciting science happening in the field!
We have a new preprint on Salmonella effector SteE! Here we describe how kinase reprogramming drives transcriptional remodelling of the infected macrophage www.biorxiv.org/cgi/content/... - work led by @ines-ddo.bsky.social and fantastic collaboration with @peterwshill.bsky.social
Great time showcasing the amazing science we do at the @dunnschool.bsky.social at #OxfordOpenDoors today!
Our paper is finally out! 🥳 If you want to know how a single Salmonella effector rewires the whole macrophage transcriptional landscape by hijacking one host transcription factor, check our latest research! Thanks to the @thurstonlab.bsky.social and @peterwshill.bsky.social labs for an amazing work!

We recently had a day of Salmonella-focused fun. Special thanks to @eadirectordndi.bsky.social and PhD student Kelvin Kerring for joining us from Kenya to discuss iNTS. All made possible via the Global hubs fund and @embo.org YIP networking fund. @jayhinton.bsky.social @katrinrittinger.bsky.social
