It hurts because ZUN's earnest art has served as a symbol that as long as you make something with passion with your own hands, that your love will shine through to those who care to see it
If you look at cirno's bow, and Marisa's far eye, you can see how shapes were interpolated in odd ways based on the original subtlety of the watercolors
Very disappointed to see the obvious artifacts of AI upscaling in the Touhou EOSD remake.
It was a bit hard to tell it from some old ZUN art jank, but if you compare it with the old sprites you can see an obvious mix of tangents, smoothed or removed details, and oddly shaped eyes
