"Wow you're so talented, I could never draw." The only difference is I started drawing when I was two and I got through my worst attempts when I was still young enough to not care at all. You just can't draw because every time you try your adult brain tells you it's bad and you quit.

Either this, or they think that your skill is an inborn gift like being very tall, and not actually one you worked to attain. You can draw or you can't. This is how "we're gatekeeping art"; since we're trying to stop them from doing art the only way someone who "can't draw" could. /s

Not all STEM guys, ofc. But anybody who’s ever worked in, say, education, humanities, health care, etc can tell you that they’ve met their share of STEM guys who are under the impression that they could just effortlessly pivot to your field if they wanted to do so
