It seems like there's a limit before the yuri stops being worth it. Picked up a Terry Pratchett instead

I don't feel like dropping the title, because I feel like the harshness of my criticism mostly comes from having studied a lot of decolonial lit, and I don't want that to ruin someone's fun with this book.
It's as if the author wants to play in the "orientalist aesthetics but colonialism bad" space, but has no real experience or desire to actually engage with anything. It's all meant to be inoffensive background fluff for the romance plot. And I don't mind the romance, but this shit is distracting me
I guess "Your application is very impressive, but we're going with someone else" is marginally better than getting ghosted by hiring managers. Just wish it wasn't the only thing I got
In what world is this adult content?
It's cute and soft! ๐
Ok so the yuri is absolutely happening, but the dialogue in this book is so rough. Why are servants back talking the imperial princess? Why do so many people at the highest levels of this imperial government *say shit in opposition to imperialism*?
Ok, the more I sit with it, the more gross the romance between the white fem princess and the enslaved dark skinned butch is. This feels pretty icky
