If I had been downright honest with myself, I would have seen very plainly in my heart
I scroll news. Exhaustion enters swift as a fatal injection’s poison-flow. Wind. Leaves mockingly applaud my collapse then themselves fall silent. I listen for something else, blue tit melody, chaffinch trill, wren falsetto, blackbird aria. Nothing. Then a soft ‘oooh’, somewhere distant. Lamentation
Evie says this is storytelling more than poetry, but I say it is superior narrative poetry!!!
