It feels like there’s a real vibe shift happening at the studios around established IP with existing fanbases. As the return on these franchises have lost a lot of steam, and original content is getting more successful, I expect to see more of this. www.gateworld.net/news/2026/06...

Some have! But not enough to catapult these projects - particularly streaming only series - to the level of success of new projects. No Star Trek, Star Wars, or MCU show has HIT on the ratings. Even Andor. There will definitely continue to be projects based on existing IP.
As someone who is deeply embedded in some of these established fanbases I’m very worried about what this means for more of the things that I want. But I can’t say I don’t understand the market and cultural forces that are pushing my generation of entertainment into the past. Culture is moving on.
