I've been working with @apexmag.bsky.social for 15 years, been EiC or managing editor of Apex Magazine since 2015.
I simultaneously feel like I'm just a baby starting this whole editing gig and that I've been doing this for a thousand years. It's a strange dichotomy.
This story is raw and evocative and brutally beautiful. Be sure to mind the content warnings, but if you can, this is a powerful read.
Every Sunday I plan out meals for the next 5 or 6 days. Then unfailingly at some point during the week I decide I no longer want to cook what I planned. I spend the rest of the week trying to come up with new, more exciting meals using the ingredients I already bought.
