The FCC has proposed modernizing the country's Emergency Alert System platform used by broadcasters and wireless providers, but some of the changes proposed could leave the network more-susceptible to cyber criminals.
June 8, 2026 - The proposal would require broadcasters and other participants to implement safeguards such as stronger passwords, software updates and network protections for EAS equipment.
