Uruguayans talk of the 'Garra Charrúa' (Charrúa claw) to describe the never-say-die spirit of their football. The Charrúa were the indigenous people of what is now Uruguay, who resisted Spanish colonisers until a notorious campaign in 1831 by the Uruguayan govt to massacre them. 📸 Mural in Colonia
