Congresista proudly serving the diverse IL-03. 🦋 I will not concede the power of the people.
Congresswoman Delia C. Ramirez

“The Department of Homeland Security as it stands does not work — and never did.” @ramirez.house.gov says agencies including TSA, FEMA, the Coast Guard and cybersecurity operations should either stand alone or be reformed to better meet their missions.
As his health declines in ICE custody, I joined @repgwenmoore.bsky.social to demand his immediate release. We will not give up on our constitutional rights nor abandon our neighbors!
Salah must be released. Wrongfully detained for exercising his right to dissent, the Trump administration used immigration detention to silence him.
Republicans are complicit in the terror ICE and CBP have unleashed on our communities. But the fight is not over; we must continue working to abolish ICE and dismantle DHS! Any outraged member should cosponsor Melt ICE Act as a first step!
Last night, Republicans gave Trump an additional $70 billion for DHS's mass deportation campaign. The same campaign that has resulted in abductions and kidnappings, the militarization of our cities, the murder of our neighbors, the persecution of dissent, and the rise of fascism in our nation.
“How dangerous it was that yesterday we passed a bill to fund ICE and CBP for the next 3 years…” @ramirez.house.gov says Congress gave up key power by approving funding without requiring oversight from the committees of jurisdiction.
Using the power of Congress to bully children and their families is unacceptable. As Members of Congress, we must affirm our fundamental belief that every child is precious and deserving of dignity, love, care, and opportunity.

As the product of public schools, I proudly stood with CPS students, educators, parents, and human rights organizations to say: Hands off our children, our schools, our cities!
Republicans in Congress are weaponizing oversight and federal education funding as a tactic to attack CPS. Schools are meant to be sanctuary spaces for our young people – including those of the LGBTQI+ community – to dream, grow, and realize their full potential.
Our communities won’t betray the fundamental belief that every child is precious and deserving of dignity, love, care, and opportunity.
