Last night, Republicans gave Trump an additional $70 billion for DHS's mass deportation campaign.
The same campaign that has resulted in abductions and kidnappings, the militarization of our cities, the murder of our neighbors, the persecution of dissent, and the rise of fascism in our nation.

Using the power of Congress to bully children and their families is unacceptable. As Members of Congress, we must affirm our fundamental belief that every child is precious and deserving of dignity, love, care, and opportunity.

As the product of public schools, I proudly stood with CPS students, educators, parents, and human rights organizations to say: Hands off our children, our schools, our cities!

Schools are meant to be sanctuary spaces for our young people – including those of the LGBTQI+ community – to dream, grow, and realize their full potential.
