Dad | Husband | Scientist. (He/Him) Postdoc with Elly Tanaka @IMBA. Interested in the fundamental principles which control axis elongation and period patterning during axolotl tail regeneration.

One of the reasons I am so happy with our current roof top apartment is that it has Betonkerntemperierung. Without any air conditioning it has a very consistent temperature with a maximum of 23C even in the middle of summer.

Join us on June 18 at ISTA for a day dedicated to developmental and stem cell biology, with talks, poster sessions, flash talks, and opportunities to connect across the Vienna life science community. More. 👇

Cargo bikes give you a chance to explore the area with your kids, stop for a picnic, and get a bit of exercise in.
Using axoltol tail bud amputations we identify a developmental transition from regeneration-incompetent to regeneration-competent between stage 30-34. This transition occurs independently of changes in the NMP population and surprisingly, Tbxt mutants regenerate even longer tails at competent stages
So between a SC and TF antibody, which one would you choose?

🚨 New preprint 🚨 Massive shoutout to first author @abinagui.bsky.social !!! The common view is that regenerative competence declines with age. We challenge this idea by showing that axolotl tail regenerative competence is emerges during a defined embryonic window. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
🚨Can embryos regenerate their tails? A question I had. With support from @biologists.bsky.social, Val Wilson, Elly Tanaka and Wouter🙏, I visited Vienna to start by cutting axolotl embryo tail buds. The answer: Not always!😮...Sparking a fun and exciting collaboration that is only the beginning.

@johanduchene.bsky.social @sholtodavid.bsky.social Spent the last hour looking, found ten more apparently manipulated Western blots in Thermo Fisher's antibody verification data (across eight different catalogued products). Thread below. www.thermofisher.com/antibody/pro...
