This is the Wallula Gap area! Where the great Missoula floods channeled through basalt. Whoosh! What a sound that must have been?
The Walla Walla is a place where flood water flooded quietly, laying down layers and layers of sediment showing the many floods over time

Following this fire down in se Washington, just south of Madame Dprion State Park where the Walla Walla becomes party of the Columbia. Two hours ago, 3,624 acres with the fire being 1/2 mile into Oregon. Winds blowing it south.
