Moirlanich Longhouse, near Killin, visited during VAG Spring Conference. Lovely example of a cruck-framed cottage with byre, with 'hingin lum' (hanging chimney) and box beds. National Trust for Scotland - well worth a visit!
Really enjoyed talking to @nwkfhs.bsky.social about #one-placestudies last night. Sorry/not sorry for giving you all more research to do!! @oneplacestudies.bsky.social
I’ve rarely experienced anything as potent as this piece of medieval carving at Gloucester Cathedral. The tragic fall of a builder, watched in horror by the master mason, captured in stone crashes through the thin veil of the present.
Our latest episode of #LocalHistoryMatters is now live! We were delighted to be joined by Fabian Hiscock, who shares information about the Three Rivers Museum and an exciting new item they have acquired for their collection. Listen to all episodes: www.balh.org.uk/podcast #WeAreLocalHistory
#Genealogy #FamilyHistory #Genearosity I'm at my FamilySearch Center this afternoon if any genies need restricted copies. #PayItForward #SpreadTheWord
This is the kind of site I love to find when doing #genealogy but especially for #OnePlaceStudies. I only have a few families to study in the county (FAN research) but I spent six years there (#GatorNation). Hooray for the volunteeers in Alachua county! You rock.
At the end of May, Essex Record Office added a post, Investigating Your Property’s History: ERO Search Service, to their blog. This will be followed up this month with a post exploring a case study of one of their #HouseHistory searches. #OnePlaceWednesday
For any #FamilyHistory folk here for #GenHour - looking for descendants/ family of #WW1 #Portsmouth railwaywomen seen in this rather lovely image! Fitting in the #Portsmouth100 year. Any help greatly appreciated: thanks in advance! There's more here: www.port.ac.uk/news-events-...
