These movies seem to be "optimized" to never lose the audience. They sand off any friction, keeping everything moving fast, quippy, easy to follow, safe, and end up being so bland and forgettable that no one cares. None of these movies made a splash in culture. None of them will be rewatched.
They don't want to let the movie slow down, cause it'll lose people. They don't want it to be sad or get heavy, cause that'll lose viewers. They don't want it to be challenging or say anything too strong, cause it'll lose audiences. For fear of losing some views, they lose what matters most.
"Look, just because someone collects teeth, or dying breaths, or toes, doesn't mean they're evil or even causing harm. Sure, some of these bumps in the night are dangerous, but most of us respect the hobby and ethically cultivate our collections. Those others are monsters giving us a bad name."

I'm taking a wee bit of a break from social media this month. Uninstalled a bunch of apps so my phone is no longer the infinite scroll machine it once was. I'm still trying to check my phone too often, but with only like two things to check on, it's getting easier to leave it in my pocket.
