Eve’s Hangout doesn’t survive the owner’s arrest, and she is convicted of an obscenity offense and deported from the U.S. in December 1927. After years running a bookstore and mingling with literati in Paris, she is arrested by the Nazis and sent to Auschwitz, where she dies in 1943. 3/3
