Love this question; resurrection is a timeless theme! My favorite has to be The Monkey's Paw. I'm obsessed with the dead coming back "wrong," and the dread of a "careful what you wish for" trope.
Ray. Mutherflippin. Bradbury. His small town simplicity and creative, exquisite use of quotidian language speaks to me deeply, and I think we could mesh his small town sensibilities with my gold rush hometown ones for a fascinating play on rural communities facing horrors among the rolling hills.
