Foregrounding women, two-spirit people and people of marginalized genders, “Beyond the Glittering World: An Anthology of Indigenous Feminisms and Futurisms” edited by Kinsale Drake, Darcie Little Badger & Stacie Shannone Denetsosie is full of imaginative SFF. www.raincoastgroup.com/item/9798890...
Me: “I’m gonna sit in my favorite writing spot and get at least 700 words on the page tonight.” Also me: “omg a surprise run-in with a fellow writer friend, let’s sit and talk about life and our projects until the place closes down and they kick us out! Total words written today: 97 Worth it. 😂

Hiya! Friday Elliott here, writer of Chicana horror, melancholia, and magical realism. Love this question; resurrection is a timeless theme! My favorite has to be The Monkey's Paw. I'm obsessed with the dead coming back "wrong," and the dread of a "careful what you wish for" trope.

Ray. Mutherflippin. Bradbury. His small town simplicity and creative, exquisite use of quotidian language speaks to me deeply, and I think we could mesh his small town sensibilities with my gold rush hometown ones for a fascinating play on rural communities facing horrors among the rolling hills.
